1861

Principality of Serbia makes the decision to buy a steamer with eight barges.

1862

Steamer Deligrad with eight barges was bought and sailed into Danube and Serbia over the Black Sea.

1863

Steamer Deligrad sailed into Belgrade and was welcomed by the entire Serbian Government with all military and religious dignitaries and crowds of people.

1891

Srpsko brodarsko društvo – Serbian shipping company (SBD) was founded.

1893

Serbian shipping company starts its operation. A passenger steamboat called Mačva was bought in Italy. The first regular Serbian passenger lines Belgrade – Šabac and Belgrade – Dubravica were established.

1895

A workshop for repairing ships was established in Čukarica, Belgrade, where, up until 1914, 18 freighters were built with total load capacity of 8.996 tonnes, which successively entered into the SBD fleet. The workshop was used for repairing the existing steamers.

1898/ 1899

Passenger steamboat Car Nikola II was custom built in the shipyard Castel on the Main in Germany, its capacity was 800 passengers and 30 tonnes of freight. A regular passenger ship line was established between Belgrade and Zemun. In the same year, tugboat Takovo and passenger steamboat Morava were bought.

1902

Postal and passenger steamboat Šumadija was bought.

1905

Since 1905 – The boats of Serbian shipping company (SBD) were sailing along the entire Danube, upstream to Vienna and over Korneuburg to Regensburg; downstream to Ruscuk, Galz, and the shores of the Black Sea; on the Sava River all the way to Sisak; on the Morava to the railway bridge in Požarevac ...

1913

In Germany, passenger steamboat Srbija was bought, and then tugboat Krajina. SBD had 12 steamboats in 1913: Deligrad, Mačva, Stig, Car Nikola II, Takovo, Morava, Šumadija, Beograd, Srbija, Krajina, Vardar, and Neretva, with 3.542 hp and 52 freighters with 24.027 tonnes of load bearing capacity.

1921

After WWI and reparations on the grounds of war damage in boats, Serbia and Srpsko brodarsko društvo own 89 boats, of 46.000 hp in total and 850 freighters with 450.000 tonnes of load bearing capacity.

1932

Our most luxurious passenger steamboat Karađorđe gets its regular line Belgrade – Vienna with departure at 7:30 AM.

1933

Sprsko brodarsko društvo (SBD) changes its name to Jugoslovenska rečna polvidba (JRP).

1945

Our fleets has 444 boats.

1947

Jugoslovenska rečna polvidba changes its name to Jugoslovensko državno rečno brodarstvo (Yugoslav state river shipping Co)

1952

Jugoslovensko državno brdarstvo changes its name to Jugoslovensko rečno brodarstvo (Yugoslav river shipping Co – JRB).

1957

The first JRB’s river and sea boat Kolubara was launched, with 1.118 tonnes of load bearing capacity and 1.000 hp; after this, river and sea boats Tamnava and Morava were launched, and the fourth and the biggest river and sea boat Morava was bought, with 2.400 hp and 4.685 tonnes of load bearing capacity.

1961

The first pusher Kosmaj saild on the Danube – JRB was first to introduce pushers system on the Danube.

1965

Pusher Kosmaj with its two barges sailed to Regensburg.

1967

Pusher Sutjeska with four barges sailed on the line Komoran – Linz – Komoran.

1968

The representation building at Kneza Miloša 82 was bught.

1970

A small K fleet was built – pushers Kumanovo, Kragujevac, and Kadinjača with motor power of 3x1,100 hp – 3.300 hp in total.

1974

Pusher Kumanovo breaks sail records – the record – making convoy of 16 barges on the Danube with total loaded capacity of 20.436 tonnes.

1980

The great K fleet was built; the two most advanced and powerful pushers on the Danube Karađorđe and Karlovac with motor power of 3x1.760 hp – 5.280 hp in total.

1984

JRB’s pusher Karlovac breaks the previous record with 20 vessels of 29.200 tonnes of total loaded capacity.

2004

Self – propelled vessel Deligrad was built / 1276 kw /1.800 tonnes capacity

2006

ISO 9001:2008 is introduced.

2013

ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 are introduced.

2014

 JRB’s status and capital were defined – it became a strategic company with majority state capital.

2020

JRB is still the biggest Serbian shipping company and one of the biggest five on the Danube.

2021

The investment in the ship JRB "Kumanovo" was completed, where the propulsion engines and reducers were replaced, as well as the overhaul and adjustment of the supporting systems. The thruster set sail again with an eight-thruster assembly.

2022

The investment in the ship JRB "Karlovac" was completed, where the drive motors and reducers were replaced, as well as the overhaul and adjustment of the supporting systems, and one of the largest thrusters of the JRB set sail again.

2022

JRB is still among the leaders on the Danube.
